Active Silica Powder (Mineral Powder Additive)
Active silica powder is an ultra-fine mineral additive with binding properties in the presence of Portland cement, promoting increased concrete durability due to its pozzolanic properties . It originates from the metallurgical manufacturing of ferrosilicon alloys and therefore exhibits great uniformity in its chemical composition and physical properties.

It is a material with at least 85% silica present in the amorphous phase, with an average particle diameter smaller than 1 micron (100 times finer than cement on average), a specific surface area between 15 and 30 m²/g, and composed of spherical and regular particles. It meets the ASTM C 1240 or NBR 13.956/12 standards.
Active silica powder: 10, 15 kg bags or bulk
Average particle size: 0.40 microns
Retained on a 45 micron sieve: <= 10%
Pozzolanic activity index in Portland cement: > 105% (at 7 days)
BET Specific Area : 15 to 30 m²/g
SiO2: > 85%
Na2O: < 1.5%
Humidity: < 3.0%
Loss on Ignition: < 6.0%

What are the advantages of using activated silica powder?
Among the main advantages of using powdered silica fume in concrete, the following stand out:
It improves mechanical properties in the hardened state , such as abrasion resistance, compression strength, and tensile strength;
It reduces the permeability of the concrete microstructure, thus providing greater durability against attack from external agents and aggressive environments;
Reduces segregation and bleeding in concrete;
Due to the larger specific surface area, depending on the added content, a small increase in the dosage of water-reducing additive is required;
High performance with low application cost ;
Easy integration into the batching plant.
