Finishing Enhancer Additive, unclassified chemical product, for use in exposed concrete. Developed for high yield and reduction of apparent defects in hardened concrete. For use in conjunction with Hyperkem SP II type superplasticizing additives .

MACkem Additive is an additive that reduces the presence of bubbles that cause finishing defects , such as "bug holes," on the surface of hardened concrete.

It can be used directly added to fresh concrete during its preparation in batching plants, respecting the appropriate mixing and material dosage conditions. Control over the reduction of bubbles resulting from air trapped at the interface of the fresh concrete is achieved through the action of the additive on the surface tension of capillary water present at these liquid/suspension interfaces.

Achieving a good finish and reducing defects depends on cleanliness and the presence of a continuous film of release agent in the molds, as well as properly proportioned concrete without a tendency to segregate and with an adequate amount of fines.

Furthermore, the placement conditions, flow of fresh concrete in the mold and its geometry, placement speed, and plastic viscosity of the mixture are crucial for achieving the best results in eliminating surface defects in hardened concrete.

Finish enhancer additive

MACkem is recommended as a finishing enhancer additive in the following applications.

  • Exposed concrete and concrete elements requiring a high level of finish;

  • Precast concrete towers for supporting wind turbines;

  • Precast concrete elements with a high reinforcement ratio;
